Conservation Of Water And Value Of Water
Water is the basic need of each and every living being on earth. Water conservation means making use of water in an appropriate and judicious manner. Since our lives depend entirely on water, it is our duty to think about water conservation and hour we can contribute to it.
Water Conservation
To our knowledge about 71 % of the earth surface is covered with water. Out of it 97 % of water is not suitable for drinking purpose and the remaining 3 % is available to us as fresh water. The 3 % of fresh water is not directly available to us because about 2 % is locked in glaciers and ice caps. Thus we depend only on a small fraction of water, so it is our responsibility not to pollute and abuse it.
Water conservation methods
There are a number of methods by which we can conserve water. Here they are:-
- The most important way by which we can conserve water is social awareness. We have to aware people about the ways through which they can conserve water.
- By renewing traditional water resources especially in a country like india.
- By changing the ancient practices which are commonly used by farmers to grow crops , we will need to follow agro-climate conditions, so that we can minimise the water loss.
- Saving water in industries.
- Last, but not least, water can be conserved through the collection of rainwater. By this process we are able to recharge the ground water level.
Water conservation at home
- Turn off the faucet (tab) while brushing your teeth. This can conserve a lot of water.
- Try to buy energy efficient appliances for your daily needs such as both tubs, sink system, dishwashers etc.
- Continue to check for leakages. A small leakage in the sinks or toilets could results in the extra usage of water.
Conclusion
Fresh water is a finite and limited resource on earth and, most of it is polluted by the activities of human beings.
So, we have to be extra careful while using water. We can survive without money, clothes etc. but we cannot survive without water. On this world water day, I pledge that I will use water in a judicious way.
